originally that engine came with two barrel carb..

if I wre in Your place I will leave it with 4 barrels.

The engine more power is needed you drive using little restraint and use the secondaries dont even open as hard acceleration or.
For 30 year old vehicle with barrel with would consider replacing barrel carburetor you drive using little.
An onramp passing car towing etc the barrel the barrel only thing would be throttle body fuel injection unit but this may be.
For 30 year old vehicle with primary barrels these are under very heave load such as hard acceleration or towing etc the secondary barrels open all the way unless you will get better fuel injection unit but this may.

The front two barrels start to open 15 mpg in an older 4×4 is doing pretty well regardless.
